Praised for her “agreeably haunting” tone, mezzo-soprano Lucy Evans is quickly gaining recognition for her dynamic performances in a wide variety of repertoire. Recent seasons have included debuts with the Santa Fe Opera, Opera Theatre of St Louis and Holy City Arts and Lyric Opera.
In the summer of 2025, she joined Des Moines Metro Opera as an Apprentice Artist, singing the role of Grasshopper and covering Lapák (The Dog) in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen.
Last season, she covered Rosina in The Barber of Seville and appeared as Marie de Medici in Glass’s Galileo Galilei as a Gerdine Young Artist with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. After her time in Saint Louis, she returned to Cincinnati to cover the Mezzo Soloist in Cincinnati Opera’s production of Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Oratorio.
Past collaborations with Cincinnati Opera include the workshops of Bulrusher and Robeson as part of the Opera Fusion: New Works initiative.
In her two summers as an Apprentice Artist at the Santa Fe Opera, she appeared as La Messaggera in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, covered the Kitchen Boy in Rusalka and made her professional debut singing Agent 1 in the world premiere of Huang Ruo’s M. Butterfly.
Originally from Bellingham, Washington, Lucy received her Artist Diploma in Opera and Master of Music from CCM. While at CCM, she appeared as Hermia (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Ramiro (La finta giardiniera), Isabela (La Hija de Rappaccini) and the title role in Handel’s Agrippina.
