From the Artistic Director

It’s hard to believe CSI is entering its fourth season of dazzling song performance, and we couldn’t be more excited to unveil such a stellar lineup of unique events to commemorate the occasion. With songs from across the world, old and new, and brought to life by some of the country’s most respected artists, the 2019-2020 season promises to delight, educate, entertain, and thrill.

Central to CSI’s mission is the creation and promotion of new American song. Just as we celebrate the best of past eras, we understand the vital role in sustaining the genre and carrying it into the future. To that end, we are excited to partner with Sparks & Wiry Cries to bring the first ever songSLAM to Cincinnati, which will be an epic night dedicated solely to the world premieres of brand new songs. In addition, CSI is thrilled to kick off its partnership with NATS to promote the winning composer of the annual Art Song Composition Award.

Our regular thematic projects continue with a wide variety that is sure to appeal to anyone’s tastes. To kick off the season, CSI will showcase the entire song collection of Henri Duparc in a single evening. In addition, we continue our three-year exploration of Spanish-language song, featuring two separate concerts to highlight as much of this incredible (and often underrepresented) repertoire as possible. These projects make up the core of CSI’s programming, and we hope you will join us for each and every concert to uncover all that the world of song has to offer.

As always, a nonprofit organization of this nature relies on the generosity of its supporters and friends. Please consider a donation to help continue your access to art song performance at the highest levels of artistry and innovation at affordable rates. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law, and we can’t do it without you.

Thank you for your continued support, and we’ll see you at a CSI concert!

Warm regards,
Samuel Martin
