Ivy Walz is a mezzo-soprano known for her exceptional musicianship, colorful singing and dedication to collaboration. She enjoys an enriching career as an opera and musical theater performer, a concert and recital singer, and as a dedicated vocal educator. She has performed with Cincinnati Opera, Syracuse Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, the Spoleto Festival, Opera Ithaca, Tri-Cities Opera and Resonance Works.

Recently Ivy performed the roles of Countess Charlotte Malcom in A Little Night Music in Opera Ithaca’s 2018-19 New Year’s Gala, as well as Dr. Electa Thomas in the new opera Pushed Aside: Reclaiming Gage with Society for New Music at multiple locations throughout upstate New York.

As a concert soloist she has appeared with many choruses and orchestras, including Symphoria Syracuse, Binghamton Philharmonic, Akron Symphony, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, and Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes. Recently she was a featured soloist with the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, The Cayuga Chamber Orchestra and Sacketts Harbor Vocal Arts Ensemble and Orchestra.

Ivy is an active recitalist and has enjoyed invited performances and collaborations with Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar, Finger Lakes Chamber Ensemble, SongFest, Cincinnati Song Initiative and Denver Art Song Project. Recent highlights include performances with Middlebury Song Fest, Civic Morning Musicals, and as an invited recitalist at the Leo Kestenberg Musikschule in Berlin, Germany.

Ivy Walz, DMA is Associate Professor of Voice at Ithaca College School of Music where she works with a vibrant community of developing singer musicians.
